India Announces Electronic Registration Requirement for Foreign Travelers

India has transitioned away from physical disembarkation cards and will now require foreign travelers to complete a digital disembarkation form prior to entry into the country. The transition will significantly reduce immigration delays by bypassing the current physical check-in process.

Unlike physical forms, which were previously signed during the flight to India or at the airport upon arrival, foreign travelers are now required to complete the Digital Disembarkation form (also referred to as the e-Arrival card) within 72 hours of their departure to India.

The e-Arrival card is required for all foreign travelers entering India. It is not required for Indian nationals.

Travelers can fill out the electronic form on the Indian government’s official website at indianvisaonline.gov.in. They may also complete the forms via Indian Visa Su-Swagatam, a mobile application.

This new regulation went into effect on October 1st, 2025 – however there is a 6-month transition period, where physical registrations will still be accepted. If you have any questions, please contact us and we are happy to speak with you.
