On September 3rd, the Department of Homeland Security announced the termination of Venezuela’s 2021 Temporary Protected Status (TPS) designation. The designation will expire on September 10, 2025.
Typically, a Federal Register notice is posted 60 days prior to a TPS designation’s expiration date. When a notice is not published at this time, the designation is automatically extended for an additional 6 months.
A Federal Register notice should have been posted in July announcing the termination of Venezuela’s 2021 TPS. While no Federal Register notice was posted, the Department of Homeland Security is still trying to move forward with the termination.
