DHS Terminates Honduras’ Temporary Protected Status

The Department of Homeland Security announced that Honduras’ Temporary Protected Status designation will be terminated, effective September 6, 2025.

Sixty days before the expiration of a country’s Temporary Protected Status (TPS), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) re-evaluates the conditions of the country to determine whether a TPS designation is still appropriate. Honduras’ TPS was set to expire on July 5, 2025, but given that DHS did not provide a sixty-day notice that the designation would be terminated last week, many believed its TPS was automatically extended for 6 months.

However, a Federal Register notice was filed today terminating Honduras’ TPS. Pursuant to the 60-day advance notice requirement, the termination will be effective September 6, 2025.

If you have any questions regarding Honduras’ TPS termination, we are happy to speak with you.
