Attorney Allison Lukanich

Attorney Allison Lukanich

How much do you really know about your immigration attorney?

Allison Lukanich is an Attorney with Bashyam Global LLP. She has been licensed in North Carolina since 2012 and is an NC Board Certified Specialist in Immigration Law. Allison has dedicated her career to working with immigrants and helping them achieve the American dream.

In continuation of our Get to Know series, we asked Allison a few questions.  We want you to get to know Allison, a hard-working and compassionate member of our firm who cares deeply for her clients and the immigrant community.

Here’s what Allison has to say:

Where are you from?

This is a tough question to answer! I moved around a lot as a kid because my dad was in the Air Force, so I don’t have a “home base.” I went to high school in New Jersey and moved to North Carolina for undergrad when I was 18 and have been here ever since, so I consider North Carolina to be my home.

Whats your favorite vacation spot?

Pucón, Chile.  I spent 6 months living in Santiago, Chile studying abroad during undergrad.  I traveled throughout the country on weekends and Pucón is this perfect little town in the Lake District.  Aside from its beauty, there is a ton to do and explore in the surrounding area, including hiking up the Villarica Volcano, white water rafting, you name it!

What is your favorite TV series and why?

Game of Thrones but only seasons 1-5.  The way they concluded the TV series was way too rushed and disappointing!  Looking forward to the books being published.

What are three things still on your bucket list?

  1. Go bungee-jumping (preferably somewhere with amazing scenery like Switzerland or New Zealand);
  2. Visit all 9 islands of the Azores, Portugal;
  3. Travel to Croatia and Serbia, where my family is from.

Who do you admire and why?

Malala Yousafzai.  She is an incredible young woman who has done so much in her short life to advocate for girls and women around the world in spite of the odds she had against her growing up under Taliban rule.  I hope my daughter has even an ounce of her spirit and tenacity.

What are three things everyone should know about immigration?

  1. The laws and regulations are extremely complicated;
  2. Don’t take your status for granted just because your friend’s in law’s cousin was approved. Each case is distinct and unique
  3. Trust your immigration lawyer! They have your best interest in mind.

A famous quote by young activist, Malala Yousafzai, is, “I raise my voice, not so that I can shout, but so that those without a voice can be heard”. Similarly, as an immigration law firm, the core of our responsibility is to advocate for our clients and “speak up” for them. For those who could be undocumented and are unaware of their rights, and for those who do not understand the laws and regulations of the U.S. immigration system.

Allison is an amazing example of zealous representation for her clients through not only her trials to fight removal orders, but also in her pursuit of obtaining benefits through asylum and other humanitarian visas. Allison and each of the members of or office dedicate themselves to being an advocate for our clients. Each member of our team has the passion to work and provide excellent service to our clients, be they a corporation, an employee seeking to extend their business visa, or a U.S. citizen trying to figure out how to bring their family into the U.S.

We hope you got to know an important member of our team, Allison Lukanich, a little better.
