Effective August 15, 2025, USCIS will only use the “Final Action Dates” chart in the Visa Bulletin to calculate a child’s age for Child Status Protection Act (CSPA) purposes. The USCIS previously used the ‘Dates of Filing’ chart, which was more favorable for CSPA.
This policy change will reduce the number of individuals who can benefit from CSPA and receive permanent residency.
Pending applications or those filed before August 15, 2025, will use the February 14, 2023, CSPA age calculation policy.
