This news is particularly relevant to spouses and children of LPRs who are living in the US legally in nonimmigrant visa status. In this situation, it may be possible for these spouses and children to file adjustment of status applications without the usual “waiting for the priority date to become current”. Even if the priority date retrogresses before the green card is approved, employment authorization and travel benefits would be available until the green card application is approved.
