Is President Obama taking immigration reform off the agenda this year? According to his own words, yes.
This seems strange considering that Senators Reid, Schumer and Menendez released their immigration blueprint on April 30. Heavy on immigration enforcement provisions, this proposal also has provisions we like, such as eliminating employment-based backlogs and making it easier for STEM students to obtain permanent residency. We will analyze the proposal in a separate article this week.
