Filing Location Update for Form I-192 and Form I-765 for Applicants Filing Based on U Nonimmigrant Status

Starting Aug. 31, 2020, Form I-192, Application for Advance Permission to Enter as a Nonimmigrant, and Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, filed in connection with a Form I-918, Petition for U Nonimmigrant Status, will be filed at the Nebraska Service Center, in addition to the Vermont Service Center. Petitioners should determine which service center to send their Form I-192 and Form I-765 based on their residence. Please refer to the “Where to File” section on the Form I-192 and Form 1-765 webpages to determine the correct filing location.

These new changes conform with recent direct filing changes for the Form I-918, Petition for U Nonimmigrant Status. The updated direct filing addresses for Form I-918 and Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, for applicants who apply based on their U nonimmigrant status, went into effect on July 30, 2020.

 30-Day Grace Period
USCIS will allow for a 30-day grace period for petitioners to file Form I-192 and Form I-765 at the previously designated service center. The grace period will run through Oct. 14, 2020. After that date, USCIS may reject any Form I-192 and Form I-765 and all related forms sent to the incorrect service center.
