The U.S. Department of State (DOS) released its October 2009 Visa Bulletin.  The biggest news is that the employment-based preference category three (EB3) is no longer ‘unavailable’.  The bad news is that availability in that category is backlogged to 2001-2002 for all nationalities.

This visa availability backlog has been the one of the biggest sources of frustration for many immigrants going through the permanent residency process.  Hopefully, President Obama and Congress will address this issue if they pursue Comprehensive Immigration Reform in 2010.
