DHS Orders Crackdown on Visa Overstays

Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem announced that DHS will begin to crack down on visa overstays in the United States. The announcement follows the recent attack on pro-Israel protesters in Boulder, Colorado by Egyptian national Mohammed Sabry Solima, who legally entered the United States on a visa but remained in the country past its expiration in 2022. Secretary Noem released a statement announcing that the U.S. government has no tolerance for antisemitic violence and terrorist sympathizers, additionally condemning the Biden Administration for its failure to enforce visa laws. USCIS, ICE, and CBP have all been instructed to vigorously review immigration records and begin taking action to address any overstays.
