Cameroon’s TPS Termination; Update on all Terminations So Far

The Department of Homeland Security announced the termination of Cameroon’s Temporary Protected Status (TPS) designation. The designation will end August 4, 2025, pursuant to the 60-day advanced notice required. Cameroon nationals were given temporary protected status in June 2022, allowing them to remain in the United States based on ongoing armed conflict in their home country. However, Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem determined that the conditions in Cameroon no longer meet the INA eligibility standards for a TPS designation.

Below is a list of the countries whose TPS designation has been terminated or reduced since the start of President Trump’s second term.

– Nepal (effective August 5, 2025)
– Cameroon (effective August 4, 2025)
– Afghanistan (effective July 12, 2025)
– Haiti (reduced from 18 months to 12 months, ending effective August 3, 2025)
– Venezuela (originally effective April 7, 2025, for the 2023 TPS designation but extended to October 2, 2026, pending appeal in the Ninth Circuit).
