Does the Left Hand Know Who the Right Hand Is?

We were ruefully amused recently when the U.S. Department of Labor’s iCERT system did not recognize the Federal Employer Identification Number of a very large state government agency.   This agency has a longer history than the DOL!  It seems very clear now that this new process of certifying Labor Condition Applications does not include even the briefest research prior to denial.  If an FEIN mismatch message is issued for another branch of the government, how can small businesses hope for a speedy certification?

Since the Federal Government’s DOL is not recognizing the existence of a state government agency, is there any mechanism for us to not recognize the Federal Government?  The new iCert system is clearly a case of the blind leading the blind!  Stay tuned.
