USCIS announced that non-US citizens’ social media accounts will be reviewed and monitored to identify any activity that indicates antisemitic sentiment or support for terrorist groups designated as such by the United States government. Non-US citizens seeking lawful permanent resident status or who are students/affiliated with academic institutions will be subject to review of their social media accounts by United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), and are subject to denial of their application and, possibly, revocation of their current visa status.

This announcement was made in alignment with the various executive orders on terrorism, national security, and antisemitism made by President Trump since his first day in office on January 20th, 2025. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will be enforcing immigration laws effective immediately.
